Autumn Leaves

I am thankful for the beautiful fall weather that has graced Portland so far this year. We are half way through the season, and it has been such a lovely autumn. There have been enough blue skied days to not feel sun deprived, and enough gloomy, grey days to still feel like home. (I am putting all three new pairs of boots to good use.)

Autumn brings out the romantic in me. Spring and summer somehow get all the credit for romance with "spring fling" and "summer love." Even Bambi became twitterpated when the flowers bloomed. Don't get me wrong I've had my share of lustful summer days, but I'm inclined to think that spring fever comes more from the sudden proliferation of bare legs than any true romance. Getting a guy who wants you in a summer dress? Easy. Getting a man to want you in jeans and your much abused Boundary Bay Brewery hoodie from college? Now that's love. (Or at least closer to it.)

Blame the approaching holiday season, all the time spent indoors, the cold, or the braising (Pot roast for one? I don't think so.) but fall is the time I wish I had somebody around. Summer is go go go, and too hot to really cuddle anyway, but right now? Snuggle up. "Baby it's Cold Outside."
